About Me and Web Design My Web Design skills began over three years ago, when all I did was use a Freewebs template to make a site. OK, the subject matter wasn't great, but it proved to be a hugely popular site, even if it did get me into trouble. This however began my passion for web design, and I decided that I want to keep going with this. Since then, I started to make my own designs, using Macromedia Dreamweaver. This taught me some basic principles behind the web, and showed me that it's not just as simple as writing a Microsoft Word document; there was more to it than that. With the aid of the WYSIWYG I slowly began to learn the coding behnd HTML, firstly understanding it, then going on to write basic code. Eventually, however, I began to grasp many more ideas behind HTML, and can now competently write the code without the aid of a WYSIWYG editor. With sites such as the CSS Zen Garden, I became intrigued as to how such a language as CSS was so powerful in web design. This led me to learn it in depth, replacing all my outdated knowledge of design with new, standards compliant and cleaner coding methods. This shows my drive to progress with the times, and make my sites more dynamic and professional. So what about the future? Will I just stagnate and leave my skills as they are? Not on your nellie! At present, I am learning Javascript, which will add dynamicity to my sites, making them more customisable and attractive to users, and should hope to soon have an equal competency in the language as HTML and CSS. My future plans involve being able to write with more complex methods such as PHP, and XML, giving more ability to increase the range of skills I have, and aiming to create better designs for you.
