My Portfolio
Starting out as a young beginner
I now have over three years' experience in web design.
And it all started with a rebellion against the school. After seeing one person's site singing the school's praises, I decided to show my "real" preception of it, and The Real HGS was born. This consisted of only a few pages and images, but it proved hugely popular, most probably because of its content. The site's life was short, however. Sooner or later, it was going to be discovered by those I didn't wish, and I was ordered to take it down.
Naturally, after the heavy punishment I received for this site, I decided to stay out of it for a while
However, a few months after, I was torn up in a big debate about the European Union,
and our situation therein. So this drew me to collect all my thoughts, and publish them. Entitled 'Should We Stay in the EU?' I created a site, explaining what the EU is and its history, leading to balanced arguments for and against staying in the EU.

When MSN brought out version 7.5 of its Messenger Service,
there was amazement as the addition of Custom Emoticons was created. Many a new emoticon was designed to represent letters, emotions and common phrases. I saw a market for this, and after being asked many times to make them for people with my animation software, I decided it'd be best to open it to a wider audiance. This was the first site i created with my own design, with the aid of Macromedia Dreamweaver's WYSIWYG editor. I made it using the windows from MSN Messenger. Although I didn't really make it look greatly attractive, it got me on the way to making my own designs. The site is currently undergoing a redesign, using my newfound skills to improve it, aswell as creating a Windows Live Messenger version to be more up to date.

Matthew Wilde was little known to the world. He started releasing newsletters full of randomisms to a group of his victims, er, friends.
These proved popular with the majority of its recipients, and many more asked to receive the newsletter. So why not make it publicly avaliable? He was unleashed into the world of the Internet, his newsletters displayed for all to see. This was a simple site at first, with only a few badly coloured items. This was updated twice, once to match Windows XP's colours, and another final time to a light blue colour. This site was my first major sized site, with several sections and subsections. It pushed my abilities to a new level, showing that I was capable of more than just a few pages. The site lasted a long time, until the newsletters stopped coming. This spelled the end of News of the Wilde, as there was no content left for the core topic area. So this was left to be redundant, but still remains for view.

Diving into the Code
After endlessly uploading content to the internet such as photographs, aswell as items for eBay auctions, I decided it was time to collect them into one, usable place.
This lead me to make a site for myself. There was only one name for it, the same as I use for everything I register to - KenBW2. Although the title was Ken's Random Site, it was always referred to as KenBW2. By this point, I was becoming relatively competent with WYSIWYG editors, and starting to notice patterns is HTML code. This meant I was able to make new designs with more advanced ideas. Also, I broke away from the idea of using flat colours for the site, and decided that gradients were the way to go. Although I hadn't quite got it, it showed that I was starting to think away from my normal thinking, and that I was becoming closer to looking like a professional designer. The original orange and navy design was later replaced by a more 'spring-like' look, in the form of a green and blue colour scheme. This green and blue design was my first attempt at the use of CSS, which is apparent with the systematic nature of different coloured links for different purposes. However, it was still a table-based layout. This was soon scrapped and redesigned due to its 'cartoon' appearance. With the new, and current design, I have made a CSS and div-based layout,
meaning that it is alot more adaptable. Nearly every aspect of its appearance is through CSS. As I leanred what Javascript could do, I have built this into the design, giving features such as the Site Map and Options drop-down menus, customisable page design and a customisable homepage. This continues to be my flagship site, with its own domain name, and being my online identity, with my other projects leading from it, including KenBW2 Web Design.

Following the success of KenBW2, a viewer spotted my skills,
and, while looking for a way to get his online presence, he approached me to build his site. All-Football was his aim - a site selling 'top quality football shirts, unbelievably low prices'. And with this site, I had created my first e-commerce site, linking to paypal with customised shopping. This lead the way for me to continue into a new area of website, allowing purchases.

The new beginning: Creating others' Websites
Hearing about my skills in Web Design, I became known to a local Wedding Cars business,
which approached me for a website to increase ther avaliebility to those who perhaps otherwise would never have known about their business. They required a website which showed what they are about, and what they can offer to their customers. Working closely with their requirements, and ensuring satisfaction at every step of the way, I created a site which both portrayed the care and attention-to-detail that their business ensures, at the same time as answering any questions thier prospective customers might have.

So what now for KenBW2 Web Design? I'll continue to create top quality websites, increasing my skills aswell as providing an excellent service for site developers. Who knows, maybe your site will be the next on this page...
